PROJECTS – ironstone hill & ironstone hut

These two locations contain outcropping BIF but are relatively small by comparison with some of the other targets identified. However, they are very favourably located with respect to the existing railway to and infrastructure at Iron Duke.

There is little recorded information about these two localities. Shell Metals Ltd did some base metal exploration and drilling along a N-S track across Ironstone Hill prospect but this was actually located midway between two magnetic anomalies and didn’t intersect BIF. SAIOG undertook gravity surveys over selected areas in the Ironstone Hut region (Pondooma EL) looking for non-magnetic gravity anomalies that might represent potential hematite targets. No significant anomalies were recognised and no drilling was undertaken.
